Standard Accessories and Optional Accessories for Frequency Converters
Standard Accessories are sufficient to enable the normal operation of a frequency converter, while Optional Accessories are designed to address specific issues, such as filtering harmonics, eliminating interference, and extending the cable length between the frequency converter and the motor. Common optional accessories include:
Input Reactor (Inductor): As mentioned earlier, it is used to limit the current surges caused by voltage fluctuations and to protect the frequency converter. It also helps in improving the power factor and suppressing harmonic currents.
Output Reactor (Inductor): It is used to compensate for the effects of long cable runs, suppress output harmonic currents, and improve the high-frequency impedance. This helps in reducing high-frequency leakage currents and protecting the frequency converter.
DC Reactor (Inductor): Also known as a smoothing reactor, it is used to limit the AC component superimposed on the DC current, maintain the continuity of the rectified current, and improve the input power factor.
Braking Unit: This accessory is used to dissipate the energy generated during the deceleration of the motor, preventing the frequency converter from being damaged due to overvoltage.
Braking Resistor: It is used in conjunction with the braking unit to safely dissipate the energy generated during braking, protecting the frequency converter and extending its lifespan.
Filter: A filter is used to reduce electromagnetic interference (EMI) and to improve the quality of the power supply. It can help in meeting the requirements of certain standards and regulations regarding harmonic distortion and EMI.
These optional accessories can be selected based on the specific requirements of the application and the operating conditions of the system to ensure optimal performance and reliability of the frequency converter.
